Overalls

I have made several Fightin' Texas Aggie overalls over the years. This will be Walker's very first pair! He is so passionate about "the Gig'em Aggies"... it is so precious. With the recent remebrance of the bonfire, my sister talked to them about what happened and they just shed tears for those Aggies that died. It is a part of them.. already. I love that!

Here are the overalls...

Brooke's Dance Weekend...

I was invited by my sister to attend Brooke's very first Dance Convention. Basically the girls take classes all day while the moms shop for dance clothes and have lunch/dinner and then there is a "show" and dance Saturday night. This theme was D'Masquerade.
I got to the Marriout and first thing we did was go to lunch at Benihanas! Yum!

We were ready for the party!!!!

This is a little snap shot of one of the tap classes... It almost drove me out of my mind... :)
The cool thing at Convention is to get your shoes signed by the instructors... you know Brooke was all over that!!!
Brooke was ready to go home...these poor babies were so exhausted! It was a fun girls weekend!

Happy Birthday Dad!

We went to Gabby's for Dad's 58th birthday. It was a good time. Karen and Mac were there. Afterwards, we went to the house for chocolate cake.

Being Aunt Megs

Today when I got home from work, I went to pick up Brooke and Walker because Macy had some haircuts to do and needed them gone. I offered them Chuck E Cheese, they wanted McDonalds... The only reason is because Macy NEVER takes them to McDonalds. Well, I wouldn't say NEVER, but rarely might be the right answer. If you know her, you know they go to Chick-fil-a. Don't get me wrong, I love that place and would take it anyday. Pasadena just recently tore down and existing McDonalds [down the street from Chick-fil-a] and built a BRAND NEW one. The building is pretty. The employees are pretty stupid.

The playground is awesome.. so the kids say. We got there about 4pm. I let the kids go straight to the playroom... cause that's what aunts do. So about 4:45, Walker got hungry... then Brooke. They had just discovered the video game center in the middle of the playroom. It's the "G" version of the games at the BARS... with photo hunt and everything!!! Anyways.. so I go get the kids happy meals.

What I order...

One Boy toy

One Girl toy

4 nuggets

1 plain hamburger

What I get...

Two boy toys

4 nuggets

1 cheeseburger

It was so ridiculous.... I might not go back there. I saw a lady take the wrong tray, sit at her table and open the nuggets, return the tray to the counter [without the workers seeing] because they allow another lady [who didn't see all this] take the tray to her table after they continue to fill it with miscellaneous food for her 4 non-english speaking children. OH WELL....

They had lots of fun running and screaming and meeting new friends and reuniting with old ones.

6pm. Let's head home. We get to their house... both start whining because they thought we were going to my house.... nope. The joys of being an Aunt... I get to take you back home!!

Also... if you notice in the picture, they are dressed up in their Aggie gear... because according to Walker "12 aggies died today" Bonfire 11/18/99 Remember the Fallen.

I love you Brooke and Walker!

Charlie.

I gave one of my dogs away to one of my students. She really fell in love with Charlie girl, so I let her have her. She is in a good place. She has a backyard to run around in and Courtney is taking good care of her. In fact, Courtney couldn't wait to get home from school and play with her today!!
Here is a picture in a new sweater that she got. She loves being pampered. What a lucky dog.

headache.

i went to bed early last night with a mild headache. 8pm early... then this morning when i woke up it still lingered. I took some more meds, had a great day at school, then came home and took a nap. I thought i was ok when i woke up but the more i do, the more this headache knocks around in my head. ouch. stop that!

going to veg and watch a little tv. only maybe an hour or so. hope your day was swell.

oh, and today was my parent's 35th wedding anniversary. i am very blessed to have parents that are not only still married, but still really love each other. our family has been through some rough patches financially in past years, but my parents have remained faithful to each other, supporting each other and caring for each other 100%.

i am lucky. well blessed. god is at the heart of it.

And they're off!!

I went to the Dog Tracks on Saturday with Eilene, her parents, and my sister and her husband and daughter. We stayed through all 12 races. It was a good time. Thanks Mayers for all the fun!!

Fun Fall Weekend!!

I had a busy weekend. Friday, we took our annual trip to the Houston Nutcracker Market. It was so fun. Angela and Macy came to my house and picked up me and mom. We drove to the light rail parking lot and took the light rail to Reliant. It was cool because that was my first time on. Super cool. The platform was right outside the gate of Reliant. It was super quick and so much easier than years past. We shopped from 10am until 6pm. There was so much to look at and we didn't even scratch the surface. Since this was our 4th or 5th year, we have our favorite booths and like to visit those first. We usually run into several friends and even family while we are there. If you don't have a Christmas tradition, grab some family and friends and spend the day at the Nutcracker Market enjoying the music, atmosphere and the friends!

Friday night, some of my employees had asked if they could have a slumber party at my house. So I let them come over. We ordered pizza, played the wii, make bracelets, and watched some movies.

The next morning, we got up and went downtown to volunteer with ACUTX [my employer] at the Houston Food Bank. We had a good group there and we really helped out with cleaning and seperating the foods out to be packaged. There were bent cans and bugs and other stuff. I'm not gonna lie... some of it was disgusting. BUT.... we had a great time helping others!!

Root Canal

yes. i got one. it was not fun. i show up at the office about 3:00 because i have an appointment. well b the time i get called back to the chair, it is 4pm. i was a bit frustrated. if appointment would have been 4pm i could have run home and let the dogs out [who who who who who?] yeah, let the dogs out... LOL ANYWHO... so then dr. eakin gives me the shots... ouch.... then the dental assistant starts to put a temp thing in my tooth... OUCH!![oh, you can feeel that?] me: YES!!! ummm dr. eakin.. she needs more stuff!! WHOO who!! so I get 2 more shots... awesome... NOT and then my mouth goes numb. niiiiiiiiice.

well they start the drill and and weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee noise... [annoying] and OUCH....oops... megan can feel that too!!! my body was so tense.... not a relaxed muscle in my whole being... so they decided to put more stuff in the actual canal... ahhhh i can still fill it a bit but it's not too bad. NOTE TO DR EAKIN.... give me lots of the good stuff!!!!!!!!

so we got done about 6:05pm. Seriously... wasted my whole afternoon. but i am not in any pain tonight. it was totally worth it... well not $1500 worth it, but worth it... :)

i met up with angela and the kids at casa ole. i couldn't feel or taste a thing.... lots of tingles.. but i enjoyed the evening. i also ran into the Deandas. It was nice to see them.

then..... i went to hobby lobby. i love that place. it makes me sooo happy. although, i am beginning to like michaels more and more... shhhh don't tell. hobby lobby has better sells... i bought a new cross. it's beautiful. i also got a picture frame thing.... awesome.

megan is happy.

i am thankful for family and friends.

Federal Holiday...

HAPPY VETERANS DAY!!

I had today off because it is a Federal holiday. Thank you military for serving and protecting our freedom. Be safe Felipe! Come home soon!

Last night, we went to Molly's and there were some Marines there in uniform. We clapped for them and shouted OoRah! it was super cool. Here are some pictures from last night...

This morning, I had an appointment at the dentist's office. I broke my tooth a few months ago and tried to ignore it...BUT it came back to haunt me. Now I have to have a root canal tomorrow and I am soo not looking forward to that. I am also not excited about spending $1,500 to get it fixed, HOWEVER I am getting my other tooth fixed so I won't have a stupid filling... and I have the pretty white ones on order.

Also, if you think about it, say a prayer for my friend Krystal. She has been in the hospital and is about to switch doctors and things are getting a little scary for her. Thanks friends!

Family

Family is so special. They love you when you are lovable... and even when you aren't. Today, we spent the day together. Today was special because like I said before it was Mom's birthday. We had lunch at Casa Ole with Uncle Mac, Aunt Karen, Austin and then us. [minus Mikey]...Several years ago... maybe 2001... I was at Texas A&M and I came home for my birthday celebration. If you know me at all, you know I don't really care for cake so I usually get cookies or a cookie cake for my parties... well we went to Pappasitos and Mom brought Ding Dongs!! When she was telling us what she brought, she told us she brought "Ding Bombs"... We have called them that ever since... so this year on her 56th birthday, we had "Ding Bombs"!!We played several games. The kids are learning how to deal with not winning every time... It's not easy being 7 and 4... is it?? We played Sequence, Hungry Hungry Hippos, and Sorry....
Then.... We busted out the Ding Bombs. We sang Happy Birthday to Mom and then she sucked in to get a big breath to blow out the candles and Brooke accidentally blew them all out before Grammie even exhaled... it was hilarious!!! So we lit them again and let Grammie blow them out. Brooke wanted us to put 56 candles on the cakes... Nope. Sorry!!Today was a great day. A terrific day of fun. Remembering good times and creating new ones. I love my family. The good, the bad and the ugly. I love them and wouldn't change them for the world!

Happy Birthday Mom

I have the best mom. She has always encouraged me in everything I do. She just wants the best for me. She is knowledgeable, loving, giving, a good listener and more. She loves her children, her grandchildren and hundreds of other children she has taught through the years! I love you momma! Happy Birthday!

Galveston-Cullen's

Today after work, I went with Cory, Zoey and Holly to The Spot in Galveston. It's just the best hamburger joint in town. We watched some football and had some fried pickles. Afterwards, we spent a little time on the beach. Zoey played in the sand, we watched!! LOL

I took a nap... kind of.. it was interupted by several phone calls. Me and Macy headed to Cullen's for a night on the town.

Being Aunt Megs

I love spending time with my niece and nephew. Today, I picked up Walker after work and took him to the driving range. It was his first time and he had a BLAST.

2 things he learned...

1. start with the club down, not up like a baseball bat.

2. don't run to the left or right to retrieve a ball. someone might swing and knock you out.

BUNCO

Today, I had training in LaMarque. It was for the Assistant Branch Managers and me. I am caught somewhere in the middle between the Managers and the ABMs....

We learned how to coach our employees and make the workplace a better place to be. It was a good time. I enjoy the company of the ABMs. They are my friends, so it was a fun day.
What I didn't like was working 830 to 530. It is for the birds! I left the branch at 545 and had to sit in traffic.

I almost ran out of gas. I made it to the beltway and pulled into the Valero... just in the nick of time. I didn't even go home, I went straight to my sister's house to pick her up for BUNCO. We were starving... couldn't wait to see what was for dinner...

Then... it happened. The menu was revealed... Meatloaf.... what the hell is that stuff?!?!?!? So about 6 of us started munching on candy corn that was smuggled in. We also tried to figure out if bags of Sonic or Whataburger would be noticed... then we decided to just me grateful for the caesar salad and dinner rolls.

Bunco started off nice. I was at Table 1. I quickly lost that game and proceeded to only win 5 games for the entore 2 hours. Bummer. Oh well, I did steal a BUNCO... or two!

I missed my employees, so I am excited about being back there tomorrow.

Good night!

Jumping on the bandwagon...

Well, I had Vox. I loved it. Then everyone left and came to Blogspot. Call me a follower this time. BUT this is ALL you get. :)

Today was a great day. I surprised Brooke at Panera Bread. We had a nice dinner, I watched her competition danceThen..... I went to Chickfila with Brooke and Walker afterwards because they WOULD NOT stop hanging on me... I love those two kiddos. They are my world.
