We were escorted by some members of the US Army to the gate where Felipe would be arriving.
This is one of Felipe's buddies talking to his mother. We were ready for him to arrive.
Angela got to go down the tarmac and greet him when he got to the door of the plane. They walked down together and he was so surprised to see us! It was nice to see all the friends and family to come to the airport to welcome back Lt. Barrera!! It was so cool to see his face when he realized we were there to welcome him home. He was not expecting us!

Look at that smile. I am so happy to have him back! We have him home! Our soldier, Our Hero!The coolest thing I saw was people stop what they were doing, come over and thank a soldier. Someone came by when we were all adjusting our clothing after we passed through security. We were escorted by local soldiers to the USO where we waited for everyone to arrive. The US military showed such hospitality. It was a wonderful experience. Like I said, the coolest thing was hearing someone say thank you and stopping to shake a soldiers hand and encourage them.
Welcome home Felipe. We have missed you!
